ArcheAge Chronicles beginner guide
Early Access has been live on Steam since 4 November 2026, 00:00 CET. Here is how you start, where experience comes from and which systems travel with you.
Choosing a class and weapons
Early Access has four classes: Warrior, Ranger, Mage and Berserker. Each class has two weapon types, with their own combos, dodges and counters.
The weapons play differently. Warrior uses Longsword or Greatsword, Ranger uses Hatchet or Longbow, Berserker uses Axe and Shield or the Warhammer, Mage uses the Elemental Staff or the Wavesword.
A third weapon arrives class by class. Gladius for the Warrior is planned first, in the December update. Until then each class keeps two weapons.
The class finder helps you narrow down which class matches your pace. The class pages describe style and weapons.
The same server as your friends
A character stays on the server where you create it. Early Access has no server transfer and no play across server borders.
The region follows your location. Americas covers Virginia, Oregon and São Paulo. EU West is in Frankfurt. Asia covers Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore.
If you want to play with friends, create the character on the same server. Whether a transfer comes later is open. It is not promised.
Progress from the Steam demo of 19 to 26 October 2026 is not carried over.
Quests, places and experience
Most experience comes from quests, discoveries and points of interest. Defeating monsters only covers part of it.
Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains each have their own stories, bosses and dungeons. Along the way, points of interest are one of the big sources of experience, together with quests.
In a group, dungeon quest progress is shared. What travels with you are Raeven's Coilstones at strong bosses, Nui Tears, chests, field bosses and, in every zone, Hersander's towers.
Six attributes
Every level gives attribute points that you spend freely. One point raises the chosen attribute by one, no matter how high it already is. Before you confirm, the character screen shows how your values will change.
| Attribute | Effect |
|---|---|
| Strength | More physical attack |
| Intelligence | More magic attack |
| Agility | More critical hit chance and some physical attack |
| Constitution | More health and resistance to critical hits |
| Endurance | More stamina and defence |
| Talent | Supports magic attack and lets you use better equipment without penalties |
Traits from Coilstones
Trait points are separate from your level. Each weapon has its own tree, with stat bonuses, new skills or changed skills.
The points come from Raeven's Coilstones at strong bosses. Some lie in the open, some are hidden, some are only reached through a quest.
The paths branch. On the Greatsword, one path leads to Armor Break and turns Sunder into Sweeping Slash, which hits twice in a wider arc. Another path brings Pummel Strike, an attack from cover that grants a shield.
Nui Tears and chests
Nui Tears
They are hidden across the world. At a Nui statue they raise your maximum health. The first ranks are cheap, then each rank asks for more tears.
Chests
Each character opens each chest once. They hold gear, rare recipes and more.
Dungeons for up to four players
Dungeons are an instance for you alone or for a group of up to four. They are meant to work solo, and quest progress is shared in a group.
Field bosses roam the open world. They are stronger than the monsters around them and drop gear, including accessories, plus crafting materials you do not find elsewhere.
Peace and PvP
Player combat happens only on dedicated channels. Zone, monsters and quests stay the same.
Most experience comes from quests, discoveries and points of interest. The bonus applies to experience from monsters.
| Normal channels | Players cannot attack each other. |
|---|---|
| PvP channels | Anyone outside your group and guild can attack you. |
| Access | Normally only after the early part of the game. |
| Switch | At a Nui statue, followed by a cooldown. |
| Bonus | About 10 to 15 percent more experience from monsters. |
What matters as you go
Every zone has Hersander's Towers. Hersander is the god of gambling, and each tower asks for an item in a puzzle. Finish every tower in a zone and you receive an accessory and unlock the Hereafter Challenge: a stronger version of a zone boss, on a timer, with a leaderboard.
Field bosses and the Coilstones at strong bosses remain the way to gear and trait points. Nui Tears and chests are worth picking up while you walk the places of a region.
Crafting, trade and housing
Crafting, trade and housing are playable in Early Access.
Field bosses can drop crafting materials you do not find elsewhere. Chests hold gear and rare recipes, among other things.
As of 6 November 2026, Early Access has been live on Steam since 4 November 2026 at 0:00 local time. Numbers and skills may still change.
