ArcheAge Chronicles Systems and Progression

How you grow stronger: levels and attributes, weapon traits, hidden rewards in the world and Hersander's challenges. Plus PvP via channels.

Levels and attributes

Most experience comes from quests, discoveries and points of interest, less from defeating monsters. Every level gives attribute points that you spend freely.

One point always buys one point, no matter how high the stat already is. Before you confirm, the character screen shows how your values will change.

AttributeEffect
StrengthMore physical attack
IntelligenceMore magic attack
AgilityMore critical hit chance and some physical attack
ConstitutionMore health and resistance to critical hits
EnduranceMore stamina and defence
TalentSupports magic attack and lets you use better equipment without penalties

Weapon traits

Every weapon has its own trait tree. This is where you decide how your character really fights.

Most nodes are small stat boosts along a path. Others unlock new skills or change how an existing skill works. Because the paths branch, two players with the same weapon can play very differently.

Trait points don't come from levelling but from Raeven's Coilstones. Each one sits near a powerful boss, sometimes out in the open, sometimes hidden, sometimes only reachable through certain quests.

Rewards in the world

  • Nui Tears

Hidden all over the world. At a Nui Statue they raise your maximum health. The first steps are cheap, after that each one takes a few more tears.

  • Treasure chests

From plain sight to hidden behind a waterfall. They hold gear, rare recipes and more. Every character can open each chest once, so there's no race.

  • Field bosses

Roam the open world and are much stronger than the monsters around them. They drop gear including accessories and crafting materials found nowhere else.

  • Dungeons

Instanced for you or your party of up to four. Quest progress is shared, and they can be done solo too.

Hersander's Tower and the Hereafter Challenge

Every zone holds a set of Hersander's Towers. Hersander is the god of gambling, and each tower asks for a specific item in a riddle. Sometimes the answer is just down the road, sometimes only where you look very closely.

Satisfy every tower in a zone and you get a unique accessory and unlock the Hereafter Challenge: a powered-up version of a random boss of that zone, against the clock. Your time goes on a leaderboard.

PvP via channels
