Overview
The Warrior stands at the front and wins fights through timing. Parry an attack at the right moment and you get the opening for a counter.
His two weapons play very differently: the Longsword is about control and counters, the Greatsword about raw force. Each weapon has its own trait tree, so two Warriors with the same weapon can still fight differently.
Strengths
- Parrying turns attacks into openings, even against ranged attacks
- Two clearly different playstyles in one class
- The Greatsword can be built offensively or defensively in its trait tree
Weaknesses
- Hardly forgives bad timing
- Melee: has to get close to enemies
Longsword
Timing and control: blocking at the right moment opens up counters.
| Skill or mechanic | What it does |
|---|---|
| Parry | Blocks an attack at the right moment and opens the counter. According to the developers this also reflects ranged attacks. |
| Path of Blood | Alternative playstyle: you spend your own health to deal more damage. |
Greatsword
Force and breakthrough: hits build Resolve, which feeds heavy blows.
| Skill or mechanic | What it does |
|---|---|
| Resolve | Builds up through hits and powers the big attacks. |
| Damage branch | Unlocks Armor Break and turns Sunder into Sweeping Slash, which hits twice in a wider arc. |
| Defence branch | Adds Pummel Strike: an attack from your guard that gives you a shield against damage. |
