PvP basics

Elyos versus Asmodians: where you fight other players on Global, when the big battles take place and what’s different when your opponents are human.

Overview

PvP in Aion 2 is faction war. All PvP opens at level 45, the level cap on Global. Who you run into is decided by the server pairing: every server of one faction has a fixed partner server on the other side.

Which servers are paired is listed under Game info. During early access only early access servers faced each other. From the launch on 5 October, NC pairs servers by progress and strength and adjusts the pairings when needed.

Open-world PvP

Global has a PvP toggle. In the open world, players only fight each other if both are in PvP mode. Once you switch, you can’t switch again for 70 minutes. If you attack players of the other faction, you are in PvP mode for about ten minutes afterwards, even if you had it off before.

The toggle doesn’t apply in the Abyss: PvP is always on there. Duels only exist within your own faction, with no reward and no penalty. KR/TW value

Spacetime Rift

Every three hours, rifts open into the other faction’s territory. A portal stays open for ten minutes, and once across you have about an hour. Your opponents come from the paired server.

  • The first opening of the day is at 2:00 server time, then every three hours. In Europe, server time is German time.
  • Over there you’ll find the other side’s side quests, sealed dungeons and garrisons, so plenty of materials and Abyss Points.
  • If you only want to do PvE there, leave PvP mode off.

The big rift battle of the Asian version, Spacetime Rift: Domination, doesn’t exist on Global: it requires level 50.

Sieges and schedule

The big fortress battles that the Asian version holds in the Domination rift mode don’t exist at the Global launch. The big scheduled battle is the Artifact Siege in Lower Reshanta. No date has been set in the game yet for the middle layer.

Abyss bosses and captured artifacts pay out ranking rewards. Contribution is ranked within your own class.

Arenas and battlefield

Arenas: 1v1 and 5v5

The Arena of Solitude is the 1v1, the Arena of Cooperation the 5v5. Both are ranked per season, separately by class; the ranks give titles, and the top 1,000 of each class get a special one. You can only queue alone; there is no group queue. Gear is not normalised, so better-geared players have the advantage.

Battlefield: 10v10

On the battlefield, the Arena of Tactics (called Battlefield in the menu), the game normalises the stats and skills of all participants. Class knowledge and teamwork decide here. There are two time windows per day. Whether parties of five can queue together is contradictory. disputed

The mode at launch is Odyle Shard Cradle: each team pushes a catalyst into the enemy camp. If neither gets there by the end, the team that pushed it furthest wins.

Abyss Points and rewards

You earn Abyss Points with supply orders, daily and weekly quests, monsters and players in the Abyss, and in arenas and on the battlefield. On Global the Abyss shop doesn’t sell gear, mainly growth materials and appearance items.

Crowd control and Defiance

Every class has Defiance. It frees you from stun, knockdown, airborne, grab, frost and fear, and then makes you immune to status effects for 5 seconds. At skill level 10 it has a 51-second cooldown that can’t be reduced. It doesn’t remove root, slow, silence, blind, taunt or transformation. Whoever uses their Defiance first is vulnerable for almost a minute.

  • Every class has a passive for status effect resistance, +35% at skill level 10. If you get stunned, knocked down, launched, frozen or feared, it rises further for a short time.
  • After Tenaciousness (Gladiator), Salvation (Cleric) or Barrier Spell (Chanter), none of these three protective effects can be applied to the same player again for 30 seconds.
  • A scroll against status effects blocks one effect for 60 seconds; certain potions and food help as well. All three are crafted.
  • Seeds of Detection reveal stealthed players for 10 seconds and can be used every 30 seconds.

What matters for beginners

  1. Get to 1,000 item level first. Without it you can’t enter the Abyss. The way there is in the guide From 45 to Ludra.
  2. Start with the battlefield. Your gear doesn’t count there, so you get to know the other classes on equal terms.
  3. Create a PvP preset. A separate skill preset for PvP leaves your PvE build untouched. KR/TW value What it looks like for your class is in the class guide.
  4. Collect the weekly rewards. Arenas and battlefield only pay up to the weekly limit. After that, another match is only worth it for practice.
  5. Plan your Abyss time. Seven hours go fast. The siege and the scheduled bosses in the evening are the events worth spending the time on.
